Traffic Safety

The Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Program is intended to assist prosecutors and law enforcement officers in the investigation and prosecution of traffic safety offenses, with a special emphasis on impaired driving. They offer technical assistance which may include drafting motions or briefs, conducting research on new or novel issues, collecting information on expert witnesses, or answering any questions that may arise while prosecuting a traffic safety offense. They are also available to serve as a special prosecutor, assist prosecutors as a second chair at trial, or help out at  motion hearings. The program is funded through a grant provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation, Traffic and Highway Safety Division.

To further this goal, regular training is provided on all issues that may arise in impaired driving cases including, among other things: Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, courtroom testimony, case preparation, the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program, chemical testing for alcohol and drugs, and crash reconstruction.
